1. The Final Countdown movie review (1980) - Roger Ebert
This is the kind of movie that some kids would probably enjoy – it's filled with technology, special effects and action. But it just doesn't make any sense.
Logic is a dangerous thing to apply to science fiction. I tried applying a little logic to "The Empire Strikes Back" (why could they always breathe the air

Oct 30, 2008 · Yes, that's the one. The dogfights with the zeros are great. One of the best scenes is when the Japanese POW pilot arrives aboard the Nimitz and ...
Something "funny" of the mentioned film is that the USN CVN Nimitz inflicts to the Japanese two casualties: both Zeros are downed, one Japanese pilot is killed and the other is taken aboard. If I can remember well the surviving and imprisoned Japanese pilot managed to get lose and killed a great amount of US personel, including marines (with an M-16 that he used better than the marines). Then, when for some forgotten reason, Kirk Douglass decides to abandon some guys at an island a whole helicopter is lost in an explosion with all it´s crew. I say that at least some 20 US personel died and a modern chopper was destroyed for the downing of two Zeros and two pilots. A very bad balance, very bad.
